BENEFITS OF A BID

When the Uptown Butte BID is established, the ongoing benefits will include:

Enhanced Uptown Policing / Security Program: Safety and security are a top priority for Uptown Butte. The goal is to create an environment where everyone feels safe day and night. The BID may implement cameras, added security, or increased law enforcement patrols. Dedicated policing / security efforts in Uptown will result in a safer environment, discouraging crime, solicitation, loitering, camping, burglaries, and fostering a secure atmosphere that encourages customers to choose Uptown for their activities.

Sustained Uptown Maintenance Program: The provision of essential services such as sidewalk snow removal, street cleaning (glass, trash, etc.), extra garbage removal, maintaining clean alleys, and power washing for sidewalks and private property and buildings (as requested), all help to ensure a well-maintained and attractive environment.

Streetscaping / Placemaking: Public art, lighting, seating, gateways, wayfinding, parklets and pedlets all contribute to the overall sense of place and community and contribute to a welcoming environment. The BID can ensure these are property installed and maintained long-term.

Reliable Uptown Clean Team: The responsibility for sweeping sidewalks, weeding tree wells, cleaning alleys, dog waste cleanup, cigarette butt receptables, removal of old posters, and addressing ice on ADA ramps will be consistently managed. Prevention of water and ice buildup on sidewalks and street corners through clearing street drains will contribute to overall cleanliness and safety.

Uptown Ambassador Program: The creation of an ambassador program will support greeting and welcoming visitors, providing recommendations for shopping, dining, and more. This will contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

Proactive Business Development Program: Efforts will include business recruitment and retention, creating a website showcasing the available commercial spaces in Uptown, filling vacant spaces, activating storefronts, and economic development projects and partnerships. Turning vacant spaces into value-producing properties will be a high priority for the BID, and this will create value for property owners.

Marketing: Promoting Uptown Butte as a destination for consumers, entrepreneurs, and investors will be a priority for the Uptown BID. In partnership with the Uptown Butte Master Plan, Urban Renewal District, and the Butte Local Development Corporation, the Uptown BID is committed to promoting Uptown as a thriving “live, work, play” destination for everyone through comprehensive marketing and media relations. The Uptown BID helps to showcase the assets and attractiveness of Uptown Butte through branding, marketing, communications, and media relations.

Advocate for Uptown Property Owners and Businesses: Maintaining an accurate database of property owners and business owners in the district, and creating a formal system for communication will expedite and streamline correspondence with property owners in the BID. Collecting this information provides a method for collecting and filtering complaints and following up.

Continuous Uptown Improvement: The establishment of a BID will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Uptown, preventing degradation and ensuring the maintenance of property values and rents. This positive trajectory will support a thriving and prosperous Uptown community. The BID recognizes needs may change as additional input and knowledge become available. These objectives are subject to change as the BID Board and property owners further define the priorities for the Uptown District.
